Day 360 – Miami, United States of America

Posted in USA on January 3, 2012 by jpomio

We are back on US soil! After traveling internationally for a whole year, today we arrived in Miami. Our two hour flight from Santo Domingo was smooth and uneventful. When we arrived in Miami we took the airport flyer bus to South Beach where we checked into our condo. We will be spending the last 7 days of our trip in one of my favorite US cities enjoying the ocean.

Day 359 – Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

This afternoon we sadly said goodbye to paradise and hopped on a bus heading back to Santo Domingo. Our bus ride took about four hours. As we passed by various small towns and villages along the way, we saw many locals gathered in celebration of the New Year. They were drinking, dancing, socializing, and just having a good time. We arrived in rainy Santo Domingo just in time for dinner. Tomorrow we fly to AMERICA (Miami to be specific)! Our journey is slowly coming to an end.

We spent our last full day in Punta Cana enjoying the beach and the beautiful ocean. The weather gods continued to bless us with pure sunshine and a soft cool breeze. Tonight Ryan and I will be ringing in the New Year at our condo with a nice home cooked meal. This has been an AMAZING year full of adventure, new perspective, and incredible experiences. May 2012 be even better. Happy New Year everyone!!!

Day 357 – Bavaro, Dominican Republic (Punta Cana)

Today was another gorgeous day in Punta Cana! Since we got a little bit too much sun yesterday, we spent most of this afternoon in the shade. The ocean looked absolutely magnificent as there were no seaweeds or other floaties in the water.

Day 356 – Bavaro, Dominican Republic (Punta Cana)

Ryan and I continued to relish Punta Cana’s tranquility and beauty this afternoon. In our usual fashion, we spent the day at the beach enjoying the ocean.  Since there are plenty of palm trees which line the beaches of Punta Cana, we were able to find a place of refuge in the shade when the sun got too hot. Later on in the day we took a long walk to a local shopping center to explore the complex.

Day 355 – Bavaro, Dominican Republic (Punta Cana)

Today was another gorgeous day in paradise. We had the most perfect weather as we enjoyed the beach (nothing but sunshine). In addition to just relaxing, we were productive as we began planning for our return home on January 9th. We’re slowly dusting off our resumes and taking care of logistical items.

Day 354 – Bavaro, Dominican Republic (Punta Cana)

Dear readers… I would like to inform you that over the next four days my blog posts will very likely sound exactly the same since we are doing absolutely nothing besides sleeping in, going to the beach, reading, and eating (I know, what a life!). Today was a bit overcast but nevertheless perfect beach weather. We are trying to moderate our sun exposure to ensure we do not burn but gradually acquire a tan. Ryan especially has the tendency to burn quickly which makes him look like a lobster (it’s those Irish roots of his).
