Day 223 – Salzburg, Austria

We continued to explore beautiful Salzburg today. This afternoon we attended a lovely Mozart concert. After the concert we grabbed some gelato and headed up the hill to Hohensalzburg Fortress. The climb to the Fortress was steep but was well worth the physical effort (the views from the Fortress are spectacular). Hohensalzburg Fortress is Europe’s biggest fortification. It was commissioned in the 11th century by the ruling archbishop. During our guided audio tour we were enlightened on Salzburg’s rich history and other interesting tidbits (like various torture methods used back in the day).

  1. Based on your pix and explanations, Salzburg is going on my “to visit” list! The aerial views are simply spectacular!

Josey should be leaving for Vienna Aug. 19th, so if you just happen to run into her, say hi!

    • That’s great aunt Jan… maybe when you visit Josey in Vienna one day you can take a side trip to Salzburg. It is only a three hour train ride away.

If we run into Josey here in Vienna we will definitely say hello 🙂
