Day 192 – York, England

This afternoon we departed Edinburgh and headed for our next destination, York. Our two and a half hour train ride was a bit cramped but endurable. Upon arriving in rainy York, we checked into our hotel and began exploring this adorable English city. We toured the city center and visited the York Minster, a gothic cathedral which is absolutely spectacular (it took 250 years to complete this magnificent structure). Although St. Vitus’ Cathedral in Prague is still my favorite cathedral, York Minster comes in a close second.

  1. Are you going to see the moors or the dales while you’re in York?

  2. Aunt Jan Says:

Don’t you just love the quaint, narrow cobblestone streets?

Since it took so long to build the Minster, did you notice any changes in architecture?

    • Yes I do… the streets are simply charming.

Surprisingly the architecture seemed uniform and consistent (unlike Buckingham Palace which we saw today).🙂
