Day 154 – Kyoto, Japan (Last Day Here)

We spent our last day in Kyoto by visiting the Uzumasa area, home to three World Heritage Sites. After getting off the train at the Hanazono Station, we began our walking tour of the area. The recommended walking path took us to Myoshinji Temple, Ryoanji Temple, and Rokuon-Ji Temple. All three temple complexes were absolutely beautiful. The Zen rock garden in Ryoanji Temple was remarkable as was the Rokuon-Ji Temple (which is gilded in gold leaf). Although we have been in the Kyoto area for eight days now, I still feel like there is so much more to see here. Unfortunately we must move on to other parts of the country.

The temple areas seem so peaceful! I don’t know what the flowering hedges are, but they’re colorful. We’re looking forward to your next city!
