Day 134 – Mumbai, India

After enjoying a delicious complementary breakfast at out hotel, we headed to the southern part of Mumbai to do some sightseeing. The taxi ride from West Khar to southern Mumbai was quite a distance (Mumbai is a HUGE city). We did have the most genuine and adorable taxi driver who kissed my hand after I told him he could keep the change. We disembarked by the harbor at The Gate of India, a monument to commemorate the arrival of the British in India. Right next to The Gate of India is the extremely beautiful and very posh Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. To satisfy our curiosity, we just had to go inside to admire this gorgeous and luxurious hotel. We proceeded to explore the area by foot where we saw some lovely Victorian architecture. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus was especially stunning.

This section of Mumbai is quite pretty. It looks as if the tourist crowds are increasing! At least you’ve had several months where you weren’t overrun with so many tourists. Enjoy!

    • Yes… southern Mumbai (or Old Bombay) is very quaint with its British architecture. There were definitely a lot of tourists, but most of them were nationals from other parts of India.
