Day 104 – Kathmandu, Nepal (Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square)

As we drove into Kathmandu yesterday, the city seemed dirty, chaotic, congested, polluted, and unimpressive. My initial impressions of Kathmandu have totally shifted after today’s sightseeing and interactions with the locals. Today we visited the Thamel area and Durbar Square (both areas were absolutely charming). Durbar Square is filled with historic temples. This UNESCO site showcases beautiful Newari architecture and INCREDIBLE craftsmanship.

Some of the buildings seem to need paint and repair work, but it’s interesting to see the differences from China! The flowers look beautiful!
