Day 76 – Bangkok

Although we’ve passed through Bangkok a couple of times during our travels in Southeast Asia, today was the first time we’ve actually spent a full day here. We began the afternoon by taking a river taxi to the Rattana Kosin area of Bangkok, home to the beautiful Wat Arun and Wat Phra Chetuphon. The giant reclining Buddha in Wat Phra Chetuphon was VERY impressive. After visiting and exploring both temples, we headed to the Grand Palace. Unfortunately the Palace closed just as we arrived at 3:30pm (we’ll just have to visit it tomorrow). We spent the rest of the afternoon walking the streets of Bangkok. We got lucky to stumble upon The 7th World Thai Martial Arts Festival at the Siam Center (where we got the chance to watch several Muay Thai fights for free – very awesome).
