Day 40 – Manly (Suburban Sydney)

Curious to experience the Sydney suburban lifestyle, today we took the ferry to Manly (very scenic). Manly, a trendy coastal suburb of Sydney, has some beautiful surf beaches and plenty of happening cafes, shops, and restaurants. Upon arriving, we strolled around the area and took a walk along the ocean to the Cabbage Tree Bay Aquatic Reserve. Following our ferry ride back to Circular Quay, we experienced Sydney in the evening hours. The Opera House was beautifully lit and so was the city skyline. Although the weather in Sydney has been unusually rainy over the past two days, we did not let the misty rain impact our “sightseeing agenda”.

  1. Australia sounds awesome!!! And, I love all the random live music you are referencing! I hope you are avoiding all the floods in the area – it sounds like so far so good! And, love Ryan’s travel look!

  2. My husband grew up in Manly and was a founder of the Manly Beach Surf Club. We have friends still there and my cousins are close by in Queenscliff, Curl Curl and Manly Vale. When we lived in Australia, we lived just North of Manly in Harbord. I have more cousins in Brisbane and Lismore. Our niece is in Airlie Beach, Qld. and used to take underwater pictures of tourists diving and snorkeling, etc. Lester’s brother had a 42 ft. catamaran and used to take out the tours to a lovely and colorful reef near there. They own and home and condo there. We enjoyed doing that with them about 7 years ago, but they sold their business and have been sailing ever since. Wish I had known ahead about your trip. I would have hooked you up with friends and relatives to stay with! Where are you headed after Australia?

  3. I am really loving the pictures and hearing about all the places you have gone. The really awesome part is I think that is the most unshaven I have ever seen my brother in my entire life!!
