Day 26 – Hamilton / Raglan / Devonport (back in Auckland)

Today we drove to Hamilton to see what New Zealand’s largest landlocked city had to offer. As we strolled through Hamilton’s city center, we stumbled upon a lovely open air Sunday market. Hamilton seemed like a nice small town but it was a bit too sleepy for my tempo. Next we headed towards the surfing beaches of Raglan, where we feasted on ham sandwiches sprinkled with delicious volcanic sand (it was very windy). Once our teeth were thoroughly exfoliated by the sand, we headed towards Auckland (our departure city in several days as we head to Australia). In Auckland, we spent the afternoon in the Devonport area and ended the day by admiring harbor front fireworks (in honor of Auckland Anniversary Day – the founding of Auckland in 1840).

  1. I was showing Isaac your pictures and he loved the one with you hugging the huge tree! He then started talking at length about Tracy Tree 🙂
