Day 33 – Last Day in Melbourne

Per the guidebook’s recommendation, today we took the tram to St. Kilda. St. Kilda is a trendy inner suburb of Melbourne which is located on the ocean. As we walked around the neighborhood, we admired its many charms (cute cafes, Luna Park, the beach and boardwalk). Upon returning to the Melbourne downtown area, we visited the National Opal Collection (Opal Museum and Showroom) where we saw opalised fossils and some gorgeous jewelry. Fun fact: Australia produces more than 95% of the world’s Opal. After enjoying the downtown area, we headed for the Docklands. We then returned to the city to partake in the Chinese New Year Festival. On our way home, we got the chance to see the inside of St. Paul’s Cathedral as there was a service in progress.
